Top Places to Catch an Outdoor Movie this Summer

Nothing says, “American Romantic Drama,” better than snuggling with your honey at an outdoor movie this summer. Major cities around the US showcase black-and-white classics and Blockbuster masterpieces at some of the most prominent spots around town. Grab a blanket and some sweet treats and get ready for the big screen on these warm and cuddly summer nights.

Movies at the Mural, Seattle, Washington
Seattle is well known for its “Movies at the Mural,” which showcases pastime favorites at the popular mural art wall, located in front of the space needle. The space needle stands tall in the Seattle Center and adjacent to the local food stands such as Starbucks and MOD Pizza. Locals and visitors cuddle on the small hill while watching the popular flicks like the Princess Bride, Harry Potter, and Labyrinth. Thanks to high latitude and long summer days, movies start sometimes closer to 9:45pm.

Moonlight Movies on the Beach, Long Beach, California
If sun, sand and sea are not enough during the day, head to moonlight movies for moon, sand, movies and junk food. Hosted by Alfredo’s Beach Clubs, guests enjoy free movies and parking, but can purchase dinner, snacks and beverages.

Cinespia is forever-running American classics such as the Adams Family, Rear Window, Swingers and more. The outdoor films are shown on the Fairbanks Lawn in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Known as one of LA’s hippest outdoor movie spots, guests are treated to popular DJ music before sunset and after to keep the party going. Coney Island, New York City
Outdoor summer movies is one of Brooklyn’s main attractions. Head down early to walk the famous boardwalk while enjoying a Nathan’s hot dog. If you have time to spare before the movie, bring a board game after board-walking to avoid boredom.

Located just west of Downtown Cleveland is the outdoor shopping arena, Crocker Park. Throughout June through August, locals are treated to outdoor movies in the shopping area’s park. For a movie showing located closer to Downtown, head to Wade Oval Wednesdays. Located in the heart of University Circle is a two-month event of movies and concerts. Movies in the Park, St. Louis, Missouri
Boulevard Park is home to home to St. Louis’s most popular outdoor movie screenings. This family-friendly outing plays popular flicks such as Monster’s University to appeal to children and child-like adults.

Dive In Movie Night, Pasadena, California
What happens when you mix a pool party with a movie screen? You get dive in movie night, a swim-in experience while watching some classic flicks. An annual event, the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center is taking off this 2014 summer.
